A Hub with many special facilities

Our Cargo Schiphol Hub consists of three buildings: Freight building 1, 2 and 3. Freight handling from building 1 came into effect in 1967, whereas Freight building 2 became operational in 1982 and Freight building 3 in 1991.
The Schiphol Hub offers many special facilities for the handling of our customers’ special products, as an Animal Hotel for live animals, a Conditioning Competence Center for conditioning and cooling of shipments, and a Vault for valuables. With our SPL Hub, we strive for continuous quality and productivity improvements to meet the transportation need of our customers. Together with our Cargo Charles de Gaulle Hub, the Schiphol Hub forms the gateway to Europe.

Express Cargo: Equation
Freight building 1 houses, amongst other things, a dedicated unit to the handling of the Equation product, Mail and other loose loaded, high-yielding products. The flow handles flights to destination in Europe and intercontinental destinations. Unique for this unit, are its full handling capabilities: it operates dedicated acceptance and delivery services, warehouse handling, document handling and ramp-transport. The handling is supported by IT-technology based on barcode scanning for real time warehousing and track & trace.

Security
Throughout the Schiphol Hub, optimal security is available with a round-the-clock video surveillance system linked to the KLM Cargo Security command post. Screening equipment can be used at Export acceptance. In Freight building 1, special sniffing dogs check cargo at random before loading.
